OBI 06/28/02 IBM Multi-Port USB Hub Windows 98/ME/2000/XP drivers version 2.31.001 ------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: USBHUBFL - will extract to a floppy diskette USBHUBHD - will extract to the hard disk drive, default location C:\DRIVERS\USB\HUB Windows 98/Me files will be in the \WIN98 directory Windows 2000 files will be in the \WIN2000 directory Windows XP files will be in the \WINXP directory Installation instructions for Windows 98/98SE/Me ------------------------------------------------ 1. Plug the USB dock's power cord into the dock. 2. Plug the USB power cord into an outlet. 3. Plug the USB cable (supplied) into the computer. 4. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the matching connector on the USB dock. Windows will detect the dock and start the New Hardware Wizard. 5. Install the IBM USB Parallel Converter, file named U2Par. 6. Install the Serial Converter, file named ftdicom. 7. Install the Serial Port, file named ftports 8. If Windows has not displayed any error messages, all of the drivers necessary for the IBM Multi-Port USB Hub have been installed. Installation instructions for Windows 2000 ------------------------------------------ Upgrade Information ******* IMPORTANT ******** If you have already installed the Win98 version of IBM Multi-Port USB Hub drivers, they must be uninstalled using the Cleanup.exe program that comes with this installation BEFORE installing the new Win2000 drivers. Cleanup.exe does a much better job at removing all of the old drivers than the uninstall that comes with the Win98 drivers. Uninstalling the Windows 98 drivers Before beginning the uninstall, be sure to remove the USB hub hardware from Device Manager following the instructions in uninstal.txt file. 1. Go to the Win2000 directory on the IBM Multi-Port USB Hub driver CD. 2. Run Cleanup.exe by double-clicking on the file's icon. 3. Click the Cleanup button. 4. Select 'Remove Windows 98 driver files' and click OK. 5. Cleanup will remove all Win98 IBM Multi-Port USB Hub driver files. 6. Close the Cleanup.exe program by clicking the Exit button. 7. Unplug the hub. 8. Reboot the computer. 9. You can now install the Win2000 drivers by following the Installation Procedure instructions. Installation Procedure 1. Plug the USB dock's power cord into the dock. 2. Plug the USB power cord into an outlet. 3. Plug the USB cable (supplied) into the computer. 4. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the matching connector on the USB dock. Windows will detect the dock and start the New Hardware Wizard. 5. Windows automatically detects and installs the drivers for the IBM USB Parallel Converter, mouse and keyboard. 6. Install the Serial Converter, file named ftdibus. 7.
