Dialout on "Tamper Alerts" for remote tampers is supported. A remote tamper is defined as six consecutive failed login attempts. - Use of the Caller ID string is not supported - Alerts for redundant power supply failures is not supported - Alerts for "Boot failures" are not supported 5.0 Note to Novell NetWare users _________________________________ During the installation process a line is added to the AUTOEXEC.NCF file which automatically loads the Advanced Systems Management Adapter device driver (IBMSPN.NLM) whenever NetWare is started. There are three additional parameters on this line that tell the driver how to communicate with the Advanced Systems Management Adapter card. If the driver is ever unloaded and reloaded manually from the NetWare console screen, be sure to use the same parameters that are shown in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file. If different parameters are used, the system may hang or abnormally end (ABEND). --- HOW TO FIX AN AUTOEXEC.NCF THAT CONTAINS INCORRECT PARAMETERS --- If the line in the AUTOEXEC.NFC file that loads the Advanced Systems Management Adapter device driver (IBMSPN.NLM) is accidentally changed, and the additional parameters are not correct, it is recommended that the device driver be installed again, using the Advanced Systems Management Adapter device driver installation process. If this cannot be done because the system hangs or ABENDs when NetWare is booted, then the line needs to be commented out or removed from the AUTOEXEC.NCF file by using the following commands: boot the system in DOS cd nwserver server -na This starts NetWare without executing the AUTOEXEC.NCF file, and the AUTOEXEC.NCF file can now be edited to comment out or remove the line that loads the IBMSPN.NLM driver. NetWare can now be restarted normally and the device driver can be installed again, using the Advanced Systems Management Adapter device driver installation process. 6.0 Trademarks and Notices ___________________________ The following terms are trademarks of the IBM Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: IBM Netfinity The following terms are trademarks of the Novell Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: Novell NetWare The following terms are trademarks of the Microsoft Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: Microsoft Windows NT THIS DOCUMENT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
