README TEMPLATE File Name: 19K8403.TXT IBM 16/4 Token-Ring PCI Adapter for for DOS and Windows 3.1x (NDIS 2) Clients - Version 2.05L Readme.txt This README file contains the latest information about installing the IBM 16/4 Token-Ring PCI Adapter for DOS and Windows 3.1x (NDIS 2) Clients - Version 2.05L Refer to IBM 16\4 Token-Ring PCI Family Adapter User's Guide for complete installation Instructions. CONTENTS ________ 1.0 Installation Instructions 2.0 Directory Structure 3.0 Changes - Known Limitations 4.0 Trademarks and Notices 5.0 Disclaimer 1.0 Installation Instructions The downloadable file in this package is a self-extracting ZIP file containing the DOS NDIS2 device driver ( IBMTRP.DOS ) and its associated files. 1. Download the self-extracting ZIP file dosndisp.exe to the drive and directory of your choice. 2. Execute dosndisp.exe from a command prompt to unzip the file. A path can be specified after the self-extracting zip file name in order to expand the zip file to a location other than the current directory (example: dosndisp x:\ - where x is a drive letter). If a path is not specified, the self-extracting zip file will be unzipped into the current directory. Refer to the directory structure in the Additional Information section for details on the subdirectory structure the self-extracting zip file will create. 3. After unzipping the file, refer to the IBM Token-Ring PCI Family Adapter User's Guide on the CD-ROM that shipped with your adapter for complete instructions for installing the device driver. If you do not have a copy of the manual that shipped with your adapter, you can browse or print an on-line version of it.Fixes See IBM Token-Ring Features for details. 2.0 Directory Structure 2.1 Directory Structure for DOSNDISP.EXE Directory of X:\ DOS 08-26-98 4:30p DOS 0 file(s) 0 bytes Directory of X:\DOS IBMTRP DOC 1,725 08-25-98 4:23p IBMTRP.DOC LA1 MSG 3,811 08-25-98 5:03p LA1.MSG IBMTRP DOS 93,963 03-24-99 12:26p IBMTRP.DOS IBMTRP NIF 4,929 08-25-98 4:23p IBMTRP.NIF 4 file(s) 104,428 bytes Total files listed: 4 file(s) 104,428 bytes Total files listed: 9 file(s) 517,899 bytes 3.0 Change History o Fixes hang during initialization on 450 MHz and faster processors o Fixes hang during initialization when there is no PCI token-ring adapter in the machine IBMTRP.DOS Version 2.00 contains the following fixes and enhancements over the previously released version,Version 1.03. Enhancements: o Removes prior restriction of no "DOS=HIGH,UMB" support in CONFIG.SYS o Added support for 100Mbps adapters IBMTRP.DOS Version 1.03 contains the following fixes and enhancements over the previously released version, version 1.00 (Version 1.03 was an interim release that was not shipped from the factory or posted on the internet/web.): Fixes o Resolves Divide Overflow errors that can occur on 400 MHz or faster Pentium based computers when IBMTRP.DOS is loading and initializing o Resolves failure of IBMTRP.DOS to bind to protocol stacks during a RPL process (This symptom has only been observed when performing RPL as part of implementing IBM's LCCM software, but could possibly occur in other RPL scenarios.) o Resolves inability of LCCM to perform warm boots (simulated Ctrl-Alt-Del) on machines whose BIOSes do not disable PCI busmastering during warm boots. Activating this fix requires the addition of a command line parameter on the DEVICE= statement in CONFIG.SYS that loads IBMTRP.DOS: DEVICE=drive:\path...\IBMTRP.DOS /HOOKINT15 WARNING: Use this command line parameter ONLY if this specific warm boot hang symptom is occurring with LCCM. Use of this parameter under any other circumstance has not been tested and is not supported. 4.0 Trademarks and Notices Microsoft and Windows are trademarks or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.
