README TEMPLATE File Name: 19K8405.TXT IBM 16/4 Token-Ring PCI Adapter for Diagnostics and LanAidC Version 2.30 Readme.txt This README file contains the latest information about installing the IBM 16/4 Token-Ring PCI Adapter for Diagnostics and LanAidC Version 2.30 Refer to Token-Ring PCI Family Adapter User's Guide for complete installation Instructions. CONTENTS ________ 1.0 Introduction 2.0 Installation Instructions 3.0 Directory Structure 4.0 Changes - Known Limitations 5.0 Trademarks and Notices 6.0 Disclaimer 1.0 Introduction The Diagnostics diskette provides system information to analyze a PCI adapter. Some of the information that can be obtained is: Capture data to a file; the default filename is C:\PCIDEBUG.PCI Run safely while the drivers and adapters are running from any DOS window Print out IBM VPD data from Surepath BIOS Print out AMI and Phoenix BIOS levels List all PCI devices similar to PCI.EXE Output all PCI configuration space similar to PCI.EXE Output all I/O register space for our PCI token ring adapters Decode the following for the IBM Token-Ring PCI Family Adapter 1. If any SISR bits are ON 2. If any EISR bits are ON 3. If the Expansion ROM is disabled 4. If the PCI Status register detected any errors 5. If the BMASR register is non-zero LANAidC is a hardware adapter configuration utility that allows the user to enable and disable RPL and the Expansion ROM. The user can also use LANAidC to view the following adapter configuration settings: MAC Address, Microcode Level, Card State, I/O Address, Interrupt, Latency Timer, RPL, and Expansion ROM. Installation 2.0 Installation Instructions 1. Download the self-extracting diskette image file 19K8405.exe to the hard drive and directory of your choice. 2. Execute 19K8405.exe to create the Diagnostics and LANAidC diskette. (As long as 19K8405.exe can fit onto a diskette, you can use diskettes to move copies of the 19K8405.exe diskette image file from one machine to another or from one office location to another. However, do not attempt to actually execute 19K8405.exe from the diskette or else it will post a source/destination conflict error message.) 3. After creating the diskette, refer to the IBM Token-Ring PCI Family Adapter User's Guide on the CD-ROM that shipped with your adapter for detailed instructions for using the Diagnostics and LANAidC Diskette If you do not have a copy of the manual that shipped with your adapter, you can browse or print an on-line version of it. See IBM Token-Ring Features for details. 3.0 Directory Structure 3.1 Directory Structure of 19K8405.EXE Directory of X:\ IBMBIO COM 40,614 11-17-94 1:00p IBMBIO.COM IBMDOS COM 37,066 11-17-94 1:00p IBMDOS.COM COMMAND COM 52,956 11-17-94 1:00p COMMAND.COM DIAGS 08-26-98 1:39p DIAGS IBMCOM 08-26-98 1:39p IBMCOM LOGS 08-26-98 1:39p LOGS BOOT EXE 33,482 02-07-96 12:02p BOOT.EXE CONFIG SYS 574 08-08-98 10:10a CONFIG.SYS AUTOEXEC BAT 1,055 08-08-98 10:19a AUTOEXEC.BAT VERSION TXT 140 04-13-99 1:38p VERSION.TXT IG000WAM FON 4,896 07-10-92 3:09p IG000WAM.FON DISK1 8 04-24-98 9:14a DISK1 LANAIDC EXE 265,430 08-18-98 8:33a LANAIDC.EXE LANAIDC MSG 8,051 07-28-98 3:08p LANAIDC.MSG 11 file(s) 444,272 bytes Directory of X:\DIAGS TEXT 08-26-98 1:39p TEXT GUIDIAGS EXE 153,716 05-09-96 7:09p GUIDIAGS.EXE MOUSE COM 13,026 08-03-89 11:02a MOUSE.COM MSPMMASK EXE 616 05-09-96 11:49a MSPMMASK.EXE 100MDIAG EXE 47,352 08-21-98 4:48p 100MDIAG.EXE PCISETUP DOS 14,810 07-22-96 10:23a PCISETUP.DOS 5 file(s) 229,520 bytes Directory of X:\DIAGS\TEXT DIAG3300 HLP 1,447 05-09-96 6:44a DIAG3300.HLP DIAG3301 HLP 1,130 05-09-96 6:43a DIAG3301.HLP DIAG3400 HLP 2,734 09-11-94 9:21a DIAG3400.HLP DIAG3501 HLP 153 05-07-96 8:38p DIAG3501.HLP DIAG3502 HLP 1,067 09-11-94 9:21a DIAG3502.HLP DIAG3503 HLP 639 05-10-96 9:36a DIAG3503.HLP DIAG3507 HLP 495 05-09-96 9:13a DIAG3507.HLP DIAG3508 HLP 338 05-09-96 9:13a DIAG3508.HLP DIAG3509 HLP 983 09-20-94 2:20p DIAG3509.HLP DIAG3510 HLP 789 05-09-96 9:12a DIAG3510.HLP DIAG3600 HLP 247 05-19-95 11:21a DIAG3600.HLP DIAG3601 HLP 1,049 05-08-96 2:48p DIAG3601.HLP SELECT HLP 286 08-03-94 12:27a SELECT.HLP DIAG3300 SCR 401 05-09-96 9:15a DIAG3300.SCR DIAG3301 SCR 78 05-16-95 3:55p DIAG3301.SCR DIAG3400 SCR 523 05-09-96 9:16a DIAG3400.SCR DIAG3501 SCR 158 05-07-96 7:44p DIAG3501.SCR DIAG3502 SCR 773 05-07-96 7:43p DIAG3502.SCR DIAG3503 SCR 202 05-09-96 9:15a DIAG3503.SCR DIAG3507 SCR 418 05-09-96 9:15a DIAG3507.SCR DIAG3508 SCR 380 05-09-96 6:51a DIAG3508.SCR DIAG3509 SCR 266 05-07-96 7:38p DIAG3509.SCR DIAG3510 SCR 407 05-09-96 9:15a DIAG3510.SCR DIAG3600 SCR 241 10-10-95 1:16p DIAG3600.SCR DIAG3601 SCR 386 05-09-96 6:50a DIAG3601.SCR GLOSSARY SCR 18,126 01-28-94 12:00a GLOSSARY.SCR DIAGS CP 7,820 05-16-96 11:52a DIAGS.CP DIAGS MSG 4,923 05-16-96 11:42a DIAGS.MSG 28 file(s) 46,459 bytes Directory of X:\IBMCOM MACS 08-26-98 1:39p MACS NETBIND COM 15,639 03-31-93 1:06p NETBIND.COM PROTMAN DOS 10,657 06-14-95 9:00a PROTMAN.DOS PROTOCOL INI 7,441 05-09-96 2:40p PROTOCOL.INI 3 file(s) 33,737 bytes Directory of X:\IBMCOM\MACS LA1 MSG 3,811 08-25-98 5:03p LA1.MSG IBMTRPD DOS 112,979 03-24-99 12:27p ibmtrpd.dos 2 file(s) 116,790 bytes Directory of X:\LOGS BOOTSTUF LOG 3 05-01-96 9:06p BOOTSTUF.LOG DOSNDISD LOG 1,444 04-13-99 11:21a DOSNDISD.LOG DIAGS LOG 1,335 08-21-98 4:41p DIAGS.LOG 3 file(s) 2,782 bytes Total files listed: 52 file(s) 873,560 bytes 4.0 Change History Diagnostics and LANAidC Version 2.30 contains the following fixes and enhancements over the previously released version, version 2.27: Fixes: Fixes hang during initialization on 450 MHz and faster processors.
