Section 3.1 describes the driver installation procedure the first time that Windows is booted after installing the Remote Supervisor Adaptor hardware and section 3.2 contains instructions on updating the driver. 3.1 The Hardware Wizard should open automatically the first time Windows is booted after installing the Remote Supervisor Adapter. * On the "Found New Hardware" window, select "Install from a list or specific location" and click Next. * Depending on how you plan to install the drivers, perform one of the following steps: A) If installing drivers from a CD-ROM, insert the CD-ROM into the drive, check the "Search removable media" checkbox and click Next. B) If the new drivers were downloaded from a network, check the "Include this location in the search:" checkbox and click the Browse button to locate the subdirectory into which the downloaded driver package was unpacked. (The default location is a subdirectory named asmpa64 under the server's %TEMP% environment variable setting.) Click the OK button when the drivers have been located then click Next. * Follow instructions on screen until the "Finish" message appears. Click "Finish" to complete the installation of the driver. * The system should then be restarted. 3.2 The following set of instructions apply when updating the driver for the Remote Supervisor Adapter. * Open the "Device Manager". This may be done by right clicking on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop, selecting "Properties", then "Hardware" and click the "Device Manager" button. * In "System devices", highlight "IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter" and right click and select "Update Driver...". The Hardware Update Wizard should appear. * Select "Install from a list or specific location" and click Next. * Depending on how you plan to upgrade the drivers, perform one of the following steps: A) If upgrading drivers from a CD-ROM, insert the CD-ROM into the drive, check the "Search removable media" checkbox and click Next. B) If the new drivers were downloaded from a network, check the "Include this location in the search:" checkbox and click the Browse button to locate the subdirectory into which the downloaded driver package was unpacked. Windows will actually search for drivers anyway but will present a list of applicable drivers to choose from in the following screen. Highlight the new driver from this list and click Next to perform the driver upgrade. * Follow instructions on screen until the "Finish" message appears.
