Abstract: SYSTEM HANGS WITH PCI TOKEN RING ADAPTER AND WINDOWS 95 SYMPTOM: When powering on the system, the system hangs before the Windows95 desktop is displayed. PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: No numeric POST error codes may be displayed. This tip applies if the following conditions are met: 1. The system is equipped with a PCI Token Ring adapter. 2. The PCI Token Ring adapter and USB ports are sharing an interrupt (IRQ). 3. The PCI Token Ring adapter IS NOT connected to an active Token Ring port. FIX: The hang condition can be fixed by one, or a combination of the following methods: 1. Connect the PCI Token Ring adapter to an active Token Ring port. 2. Disable the USB ports if not required. 3. Download and install the updated IBM Token Ring PCI WOL adapter driver.
