 Abstract:  ISA ADAPTERS DO NOT FUNCTION UNDER WINDOWS NT/95


 SYMPTOM:
 After installing a ISA adapter and restarting WindowsNT or
 Windows95, the adapter is not recognized, or does not
 function.

 This condition can apply to both Plug-and-Play and non
 Plug-and-Play ISA adapters.

 PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
 This tip applies, but is not limited to, IBM IntelliStation
 M-Pro Series 6889 systems preloaded with WindowsNT 4.0.

 The error condition will be seen in ISA adapters that default
 to, or are configured to utilize IRQ 9. The configuration error
 may also be seen under Windows95.

 FIX:
 The error condition can be corrected by one of the following
 two methods:

 1. Reconfigure the adapter to use an interrupt other than
    IRQ 9.

 2. Set IRQ 9 under "ISA Legacy Resources" in BIOS Setup
    to "Not Available."
