H164728: I20 WILL NOT WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH HOT PLUG SYMPTOM: Critical: A server OS error has occurred. A Trusted Ring-0 application may have corrupted system memory. The NetWare OS image has been halted. This exception precludes NetWare from continuing. Error Msg: Partition object found not found in PartitionMappingTable. PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: - The system is a Netfinity 7000 M10 server Machine Type 8680. - The system is running Novell NetWare ver. 4.11 - The system has the following NLM's loading after the I20 adapter support in the startup.ncf file: i2opci.nlm, version 0.21c, March 11, 1998 bkstrosm.nlm, version 0.22, April 27, 1998 scsiosm.nlm, version 0.21c, April 9, 1998 - The system displays the symptom upon the first reboot after the modules are placed in startup.ncf and the system is downed and brought back up. FIX: No permanent fix is currently available. WORKAROUND: Comment out bkstrosm.nlm from Startup.ncf This is accomplished in the following manner: 1. Once i2odrv1.exe is loaded, down the server, bring the server back up. The error message will appear. 2. Down the server abd shut down the server completely. 3. Take the I2O card out of the system and bring the server back up. 4. Go to the NetWare OS. 5. From the command prompt, type 'load install'. 6. From the 'Load Install' console, select 'NCF Files options'. 7. Select 'edit STARTUP.NCF'. 8. From startup.ncf, comment out BKSTROSM.NLM. 9. Save the file and down the server. 10. Shut down the system and place the I2O card back in the system. 11. Bring server back up and go to NetWare OS. 12. After approximately 30 minutes, type 'load c:\netware\bkstrosm'. * Loading bkstrosm directly after bringing up the OS proved unsuccessful. A duration of 30 minutes or so was required, else the error received before would appear. This workaraound allows Hot-Plug to be used in conjunction with I2O.
