H165786: I386 ERROR INSTALLING NETWORK ADAPTERS UNDER WINDOWS NT SYMPTOM: When adding a network adapter via "Network" in Control Panel or during a new installation of Windows NT the network adapter is not shown. After choosing "Select From List," then "Have Disk," the following or similar error occurs when trying to copy files from the driver diskette: An error has occurred: Unable to open the file x:\i386\OEM_FILE_NAME PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: The error may occur under both Windows NT Workstation 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0. The error may be seen on any network adapter that requires a "Have Disk" function on installation including, but not limited to, the following network adapters: IBM Turbo 16/4 ISA adapter Option P/N72H3482 IBM PCI 16/4 Wake on LAN adapter Option P/N86H1880 IBM PCI 16/4 adapter Option P/N41H8900 FIX: Download and install IBM Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring ISA Adapter device driver, file name TRI164T2.EXE from the IBM Networking Hardware support Internet web page www.networking.ibm.com. 1. Under "Fast-Path Site Links" click on Support. 2. Click on "Search the Support Site." 3. Search on "turbo 16/4" and click on the link to the IBM Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring ISA Adapter support page. 4. Click on "Downloads." * Any other network adapter that exhibits the symptom: Contact the manufacturer for an updated OEMSETUP file per Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q156606.
