Installation Readme


This firmware version was created to fix several problems with writing
CDs and DVDs using Windows Vista's native write functions.


Supported systems
=================
This package applies to the following systems configured with the HLDS
GSA-H30L Multi-burner with Light Scribe (service part number FRU 41N3349):

- ThinkCentre A55 (type 9636, 9638, 9640, 9641)
- ThinkCentre M55 (type 6486, 6487, 6488, 6489, 8009, 8010, 8011, 8012,
  8791, 8792, 8793, 8794, 8795, 8796, 8797, 8798, 8799, 8800, 8801, 8802,
  8803, 8804, 8805, 8806, 8807, 8808, 8810, 8811, 8812, 8813, 8814, 8816)
- ThinkCentre M55e (type 9642, 9643, 9644, 9645)
- ThinkCentre M55p (type 6487, 6488, 8792, 8794, 8796, 8798, 8800, 8802,
  8804, 8806, 8808, 8811, 8813, 8816)


Downloading the package
=======================
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save
   the downloaded file.


Extracting the package
======================
1.  Click Start, then click Start Search.
2.  Type hldsgsah30l_106.exe in the search field, then click Search
    Everywhere. This will locate the file you just downloaded.
3.  Double-click the hldsgsah30l_106.exe icon. You may see a dialog
    stating "A program needs your permission to continue". If you
    see this dialog, click Continue.
4.  Click Next.
5.  Click I accept the terms in the license agreement.
6.  Click Next.
7.  Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to
    C:\SWTOOLS\FIRMWARE\HLDS\GSA-H30L.
8.  Click Next. The necessary files will be extracted to your hard drive.
9.  Click Finish.


Applying the package
====================
Note: This firmware upgrade requires the system to be restarted.  Exit all
applications and save your data before running the upgrade. Do not restart
or power-down the system while the upgrade is in progress.

1.  Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, then click Run.
2.  Type C:\SWTOOLS\FIRMWARE\HLDS\GSA-H30L\GSA-H30L_106.exe, then click OK.
    You will get the prompt, "Are you sure to flash?"
3.  Click Yes.  The drive will open the tray and proceed with the flash. When
    the update is complete, you will get the message, "Flash Tool has finished
    updating new Firmware. You must restart your computer before new F/W will
    take effect. Do you want to restart your firmware now?"
4.  To restart your system immediately, click Yes and then Exit. If you prefer
    to restart your system later, click No and then Exit.
5.  The firmware update will take effect after you have rebooted your computer.
