NVIDIA video driver for Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP version 81.85 Installation README This package installs an update to the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 and XP device driver for the following NVIDIA display adapters: NVIDIA Quadro NVS NVIDIA Quadro NVS PCI card NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 NVIDIA Quadro NVS 55/280 PCI NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache(TM) NVIDIA Quadro PCI-E Series This package has been approved for use with the following systems: - ThinkCentre A52 (type 8153, 8154, 8161, 8162, 8163, 8164, 8165, 8166, 8167, 8168, 8169, 8170, 8287, 8296, 8327, 8340, 8343, 8381) - ThinkCentre M52 (type 8110, 8111, 8112, 8113, 8114, 8115, 8211, 8212, 8213, 8214) - ThinkCentre M52e (type 8299) This update requires approximately 52MB of space on your hard drive. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Extracting the update --------------------- 1. Click Start, select Search, then click For Files or Folders. 2. Type q3vdo04us13.exe in the search field, then click Search Now. This will locate the file you just downloaded. 3. Double-click the q3vdo04us13.exe icon. 4. Click Next. Read the license agreement. 5. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement. 6. Click Next. 7. Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to C:\IBMTOOLS\drivers\q3vdo04us13. 8. Click Next. 9. Click Finish. Installing the update --------------------- 1. Click Start, then click Run. 2. Type C:\IBMTOOLS\drivers\q3vdo04us13\Setup.exe, then click OK. The setup program will run. Follow all onscreen prompts and reboot your system when done. Note: For further installation options and more information about this driver, please refer to C:\IBMTOOLS\drivers\q3vdo04us13\Readme.txt. Unattended Installation ----------------------- If you prefer to configure your system by command line editing you may install the video drivers and set the monitor configuration of your primary display as follows: 1. Open a command prompt window by clicking Start, select Programs, select Accessories, then click Command Prompt. 2. Go to the directory which contains the NVIDIA device driver (e.g. C:\IBMTOOLS\drivers\q3vdo04us13) 3. Enter the following command: SETUP -h"x" -v"y" -b"c" -j"f" -k -s These are the command line options: -h"x" Resolution (horizontal) -v"y" Resolution (vertical) -b"c" Color Depth (in bits per pixel) -j"f" Refresh rate (in Hz) -k Force a reboot after a silent installation - must precede -s option in command for system to reboot. -s Silent Installation - no installation messages displayed during installation. Example: For a silent installation of the NVIDIA video drivers, configuring your monitor for 800x600 at 75 Hz, 16 bits per pixel, the command looks like this: setup -h"800" -v"600" -b"16" -j"75" -s Warning! Selecting a resolution or refresh rate that your monitor does not support can permanently damage the monitor. Check the documentation of your monitor and make sure that the monitor supports the selected resolution and refresh rate.
