NVIDIA video driver for Microsoft Windows Vista 64 bit only version 96.85 Installation README This package installs the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Vista 64 bit device driver for NVIDIA graphics adapters. This update requires approximately 113MB of space on your hard drive. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. Downloading the package ======================= 1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Extracting the package ====================== 1. Click Start, then click Start Search. 2. Type v3vdo01us14.exe in the search field, then click Search Everywhere. This will locate the file you just downloaded. 3. Double-click the v3vdo01us14.exe icon. You may see a dialog stating "A program needs your permission to continue". If you see this dialog, click Continue. 4. Click Next. Read the license agreement. 5. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement. 6. Click Next. 7. Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\NvidiaVIDEO\v3vdo01us14. 8. Click Next. 9. Click Finish. Installing the package ====================== 1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, then click Run. 2. Type C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\NvidiaVIDEO\v3vdo01us14\Setup.exe, then click OK. The setup program will run. Follow all onscreen prompts and reboot your system when done. Unattended Installation ----------------------- If you prefer to configure your system by command line editing you may install the video drivers and set the monitor configuration of your primary display as follows: 1. Open a command prompt window by clicking Start, select Programs, select Accessories, then click Command Prompt. 2. Go to the directory which contains the NVIDIA device driver (e.g. C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\NvidiaVIDEO\v3vdo01us14) 3. Enter the following command: SETUP -h"x" -v"y" -b"c" -j"f" -k -s These are the command line options: -h"x" Resolution (horizontal) -v"y" Resolution (vertical) -b"c" Color Depth (in bits per pixel) -j"f" Refresh rate (in Hz) -k Force a reboot after a silent installation - must precede -s option in command for system to reboot. -s Silent Installation - no installation messages displayed during installation. Example: For a silent installation of the NVIDIA video drivers, configuring your monitor for 800x600 at 75 Hz, 16 bits per pixel, the command looks like this: setup -h"800" -v"600" -b"16" -j"75" -s Warning! Selecting a resolution or refresh rate that your monitor does not support can permanently damage the monitor. Check the documentation of your monitor and make sure that the monitor supports the selected resolution and refresh rate.
