The Commodore S-Video converter is an extension cable for the Commodore monitor cable, to connect Commodore machines to a device with S-Video input.
You need the following hardware to make use of this cable:
A Commodore 64 or 128 machine, or any other Commodore machine or clone that has the 8-pin audio/video port
A TV, VCR, video card or any other device with an S-Video port
You can find the details on how to build this cable at the construction page.
The assembled cable looks like this: complete cable, S-Video mini-DIN plug.
These pictures should give you an overall idea on how the cable looks like and how it should be properly assembled. However, when building a cable yourself, you should not rely on the pictures only; see the construction guide instead.
Connect the S-Video plug into the S-Video port on your device. Connect the red and black RCA plugs of your Commodore monitor cable into the ports of the corresponding color on the converter; if your monitor cable has three RCA plugs but none of them is black then use the yellow RCA plug instead.
Important! Do not plug or unplug cables while your equipment is switched on. Make sure that all components of your equipment are connected to the same, properly grounded power outlet.
