This is arguably one of the biggest selections of Amstrad CPC links on the World Wide Web! If any of them aren't working, or the site has moved, then please e-mail me at nich <AT> durge <DOT> org so I can fix the incorrect URL. If you have a website which is relevant to the Amstrad CPC and it is not listed here, then again, e-mail me.

Each website also has a rating out of five, shown using stars. Websites with five stars are well worth checking out, and those with only one star (or maybe two stars) are best left alone. I want to make this list of links as complete as possible, which is why nearly all the Amstrad CPC websites I know of are included here.

Finally, some websites may also have one or more flags next to them. This indicates that the website is Available in that language. Websites with no flag(s) next to them are written in English only.

Newsgroups

• comp.sys.amstrad.8bit A newsgroup for CPC and PCW owners, which is rather quiet nowadays. The FAQ is no longer posted to the group, but you can look at the English and French versions on the Web.
• comp.os.cpm A newsgroup about the CP/M operating system.

FTP & Download Sites

• ADATE This is the Amstrad Disc and Tape Emporium, where you can download CDT images of CPC cassette software, and DSK images of original (not cracked) disc software. If you're looking for original cassette software, this is the place to go.
• Barnyard David Cantrell's FTP server, containing mirrors of the NVG, LIP6 and ADATE FTP sites, as well as most of the Robot PD catalogue and lots of CP/M software. However, the mirrors aren't up to date, so don't rely on them for obtaining the latest content!
• CNGSoft CNGSoft's collection of cracked games, some of which include cheat options. Most of them are compressed into a single file! Also, this site is usually only online from 10:00am to midnight (GMT).



• Computer Emuzone Almost every Spanish game ever released can be downloaded from this site, and not just for the CPC, either. It also has reviews and solutions for many of them, although it's in Spanish, of course.
• CPC Crackers An archive of CPC games and crack intros, categorised by the individual or group that cracked them.
• CPC Museum A huge collection of unsorted software contributed by various people.
• Crackers Velus A large collection of games that have been transferred to DSK files. Use the 'Download' option on the menu to search for a particular game and download it.
• Demon A mirror of Demon's FTP archive of CP/M software, for those who like that sort of thing (not me). Look in the amstrad directory for CPC stuff.
• LIP6 Concentrates mainly on utilities, fanzines and demos, but there are some games as well. There is a mirror of this site in the UK.
• NVG The best known FTP site for CPC software, which I maintain. It's got a huge collection of CPC games - over 3000 of them, in fact! There is a mirror of this site in the UK.
• Urusergi A vast amount of CPC software (both cassette and disc, in CDT and DSK formats) can be found here. Most of it has been uploaded by Spanish contributors. To gain access, enter "amstrad" (without quotes) as both the username and the password.

Resources

• The Amstrad CPC Hardware Projects Page Information, mostly scanned from various British CPC magazines, on how to build your own specialised hardware for your CPC.
• amstradcpc.info A gallery of photos from some meetings in France between 2003 and 2010, and a few demos and utilities to download.
• Amstradeus Lots of manuals in PDF format to download, interviews with well known figures at Amstrad, games to download in MP3 format to play back on a real CPC, and much more.
• The Basic Idea A useful resource for more experienced BASIC programmers, written by Sean McManus. Many of his programs can be downloaded here.
• CPC Museum Some game inlays to look at and a huge amount of unsorted software to download. You can also download more than 300 pieces of CPC music in YM format, which you can listen to using STSound.
• CPCrulez A huge collection of articles from French CPC magazines on demos, Z80 machine code, hardware, utilities and games, as well as lots of software available for downloading. There is also a news section which is updated very regularly. One of the best CPC sites out there, although it can be difficult to find what you're looking for.



• CPCWiki A fantastic resource for CPC users, particularly if you're interested in hardware or the CPC scene in general - and like most wikis, anyone can contribute to it!
• Genesis8 Amstrad Page The website for the LIP6 FTP server. This is another place to download new files if they're not on LIP6, and you can also find the FAQ for the comp.sys.amstrad.8bit newsgroup here.
• Octoate CPC scene news, information on some specialised CPC hardware, and a gallery of photos from some meetings in Germany.
• Phenix Informatique One of the best sites to visit if you're a French CPC user, with general news about the CPC scene, a discussion forum, game reviews, samples of music from dozens of games, interviews, and a few articles and listings... excellent!
• Pouët Although this site covers the demo scene on a variety of computers, there is an Amstrad CPC section with a (non-exhaustive) list of demos, intros and disc fanzines released for the CPC over the years, complete with screenshots and comments from other demo fans.
• The Ring of CPCs A webring linking together CPC websites, most of which are shown here.
• Die Schneider-CPC Home Page An emulator for Linux users, and some software for you to download, complete with screenshots.
• The Trailing Edge of Technology Including an on-line version of the Amstrad firmware guide, and documentation for the RAMDOS and ROMDOS disc operating systems.
• The Unofficial Amstrad WWW Resource More CPC stuff than you can shake a stick at!

Emulators

NOTE: The ratings given for these emulators relate to the quality of their websites, and not to the emulators themselves. (Most people recommend CaPriCe32, CPCE and WinAPE as the best emulator(s).)

• AMI-CPC A CPC emulator for the Amiga. There are also some raytraced images to look at - although they weren't drawn on a CPC!
• Arnimedes A new emulator on the scene, with both MS-DOS and Windows versions available. However, it's still very much in development, so don't expect much of it.
• Arnold An emulator for Windows which is still in development. It emulates the CPC and Plus machines quite accurately, but it requires quite a fast PC. Macintosh and Linux versions are also available.



• CaPriCe32 One of the best CPC emulators. Originally only available for MS-DOS, Windows versions are also available. The emulator is now open source, but not much has happened since the source code was made available.
• CoPaCabana Another fairly new emulator for Windows, which again is still very much in development. A PalmOS port has also recently been released.
• CPC++ An emulator which runs under MacOS and various flavours of Unix. It used to be shareware for a long time but the author has now made it open source.
• CPCAlive A CPC emulator for MS-DOS, aimed mainly at programmers instead of game players.
• CPCE Another CPC emulator that was originally only available for MS-DOS, but now exists for Windows as well. It's still being developed and is now very good indeed.
• CPC-em An emulator for MS-DOS and Windows, which appears to be no longer in development.
• CPCemu One of the very first (if not the first) CPC emulators, originally only available for MS-DOS, has been updated, with Windows and Linux versions also available. However, it's still nowhere near as advanced as most other emulators.
• CPC4x One of the few CPC emulators which works with Linux systems.
• CPC Loader Not actually an emulator, but a frontend which is supposed to make using emulators easier and more user-friendly. It also allows you to browse through a collection of CPC games and display information about them.
• NO$CPC A nice emulator for MS-DOS which runs very well on slower PCs (it emulates Plus machines as well), although it's not as good as many other MS-DOS CPC emulators and appears to be no longer in development. A version for Windows is also available.
• S60-CPC An emulator for Symbian S60 mobile phones.
• WinAPE An absolutely brilliant emulator for Windows, which emulates the 6128 Plus (although it can be made to emulate a CPC6128 with a little know-how!). This one is arguably the best CPC emulator of all, and it's the one I use all the time.
• WinCPC A new emulator for Windows by Philippe Widmer which comes with lots of features, including a built-in assembler. It seems to be very accurate as well, although you will need a fairly hefty PC to run it properly. Note that this emulator is not to be confused with another emulator by Ludovic Déplanque that is also called WinCPC.
• XCPC An emulator for Unix/Linux.

Companies

• Amstrad It isn't an official site as such, but at least there's some CPC stuff on it (unlike the official one)!
• Cronosoft A software house which has released several games for 8-bit computers, including the Amstrad CPC.
• Merline-Serve A non-profit-making company which sells second-hand CPC goods.
• SD Microsystems Specialists in Amstrad CPC, PCW and PC computers for over a decade.
• Trade In Post Buy, sell and exchange CPC software and hardware (and an awful lot of other things as well!).

User Groups

• The Addams Fanz A French disc fanzine. Its creators also wrote a few demos and slideshows. You can download all of their productions from their site.
• Arkos A French coding group who have written many demos, as well as the excellent STarKos and Arkos Tracker utilities and the Demoniak fanzine.
• Bad European News Gang Remember the coding group BENG! from the early 90s? This is their website, but there's little to see and it's been left abandoned for many years.
• Futurs' Freeware Diffusion Another French coding group, with downloads of their productions and comprehensive details of their future releases.
• Paradox CMP, one of the members of this demo group, presents a few machine code routines showing you how to create overscan and rasters on the CPC.
• Vanity A French demo group, who have programmed some very impressive demos indeed.
• WACCI A fanzine and user group for more serious users which is sadly no more. However, the site contains all the articles from issues 136 to 140 of their fanzine.

Fanzines

• Amstar A French CPC magazine which was published from 1986 to 1991 and concentrated mostly on games. Nearly every issue can be downloaded from this site.
• Amstrad Cent Pour Cent A French CPC magazine which ran from 1988 to 1993. Every one of the 49 issues can be downloaded from this site.
• Bonsoir la Planète Another French fanzine which has been going since 1992. The site was last updated in mid-1998, though.
• CPC Oxygen An online fanzine, which as its name suggests, attempts to breathe life back into the CPC, although after 14 issues, it seems to have stopped. You can also browse through the majority of issues of Amstrad Action as well, which have been scanned by various contributors.
• WACCI A fanzine and user group for more serious users which is sadly no more. However, the site contains all the articles from issues 136 to 140 of their fanzine.

Games

• The Amstrad CPC Games Resource This used to be the ultimate CPC games site, with links to all of the software on NVG, loading screens, reviews of CPC games, interviews with ex-CPC programmers, music to download, and a database of game reviews from CPC magazines like Amstrad Action and AMTIX! However, it hasn't been updated since January 2006.
• Amstrad CPC Nostalgia A few games to download, and documentation on how to connect a 3½" drive to your CPC.
• Amstrad CPC Multiface Cheats Index A large index of Multiface cheats for tape and disc games, including instructions on how to use a Multiface II. You might be able to use these cheats on a few emulators as well.
• Amstrad.ESP A catalogue of almost every Spanish game ever released on the CPC, with screenshots, downloads, music and advertisements. There are also lots of articles about Spanish software houses, a selection of cheats for some games, and an active discussion forum.
• The Balrog Hints, solutions and reviews for most adventure games.
• Computer Emuzone Almost every Spanish game ever released can be downloaded from this site, and not just for the CPC, either. It also has reviews and solutions for many of them, although it's in Spanish, of course.
• CPC Aventure A site to accompany CPC Aventure, an enormous point-and-click adventure that was released in 2005. There is a complete guide to playing and solving the game, and an in-depth look at how the game was developed.
• CPC Crackers A site devoted to the many crackers on the CPC, with summaries, intro screens, and a huge archive of games categorised by who cracked them.
• CPC Game Reviews Reviews, screenshots, ratings and advertisements for more than 1000 games. Oh, and I'm responsible for it, too... There is also a mirror site. (BIASED!!!)
• CPCGAMES A very comprehensive database containing information about nearly CPC game ever released, with screenshots, downloads, cover scans, advertisements, manuals, maps and music.
• CPCGamesCD A CD image containing every game on the NVG archive, several emulators, and the CPC Loader frontend to make things more user-friendly for beginners.
• CPC Games Page Screenshots and downloads of a few CPC games, listed by category. The site looks nice, but there's not much else to see.
• Cronosoft A software house which has released several games for 8-bit computers, including the Amstrad CPC.
• Megablasters Everything you ever wanted to know about Odiesoft's Bomberman clone - how it was produced, a list of enemies, end-of-world guardians, objects and secrets, and a complete solution.
• Los Mejores Juegos del Amstrad CPC Lots of screenshots and downloads of the best CPC games (in the opinion of the author of the website, of course), organised into categories. There's also a gallery of the best loading screens, as well as the sexiest - which a lot of Spanish companies were well known for...
• Notices Amstrad Scanned instructions of lots of games, although as this is a French site, all of them are in French.
• Planet Omega - CPC Games Reviews of some games (about a dozen), with four screenshots for each one.
• Red 5 Software Screenshots and information on Jason Davis' text adventures which were originally released between 1990 and 1993 and are being re-released by Cronosoft.
• Tolkien computer games for the Amstrad CPC A list of CPC adventure games based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, with screenshots, covers, and cross-references galore.

Utilities

• ADLAN Download the source code and the user manual for this ROM-based adventure game creator.
• CPC/IP An implementation of various Internet protocols (eg. IP, TCP, ping, finger, telnet) - apparently a first for the CPC. It's too technical for me, anyway.
• FutureOS An alternative ROM-based operating system.
• PJA/Projet Jeux d'Aventures pour CPC A Windows-based utility that allows you to create your own icon-driven adventures on a CPC. It is currently still being developed and looks very promising indeed.
• SymbOS A Windows-like system for the CPC which has been in development for several years and is very impressive indeed!

Music

• Roland Radio An online radio station that plays Amstrad CPC tunes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• StSound A program that lets you play tunes from the CPC (as well as other computers). It's also available as a plugin so that website authors can play tunes within a browser.

Personal Pages

British CPC Users
• Simon Avery Famous for writing numerous text adventures such as Adult 2, Boredom and Danger! Adventurer at Work for the CPC in the late 80s and early 90s.
• Richard Brooksby The creator of ADLAN wants to share some of his thoughts with you.
• David Cantrell Hosts the UK mirrors of NVG, ADATE and LIP6, as well as lots of other CPC goodies. There's more to him than meets the eye!
• John Girvin If you read the Hairy Hacker column in Amstrad Computer User, you'll remember this bloke. It features John's recollections of his CPC days, and includes an excellent section devoted to the Hairy Hacker, with scans of most of his columns in ACU.
• Andrew Lawston A Dr. Who fan, who's also designed a Doom II WAD featuring some well known CPC characters. There's also a walkthrough for the Level 9 game Scapeghost. This site hasn't been updated for a long time.
• Sean McManus Author of scores of BASIC type-ins from Amstrad Action and Amstrad Computer User, as well as a BASIC tutorial, The Basic Idea.
• Stuart Whyte Otherwise known as The Balrog, Amstrad Action's former adventure columnist.

French CPC Users

• Downwater A French CPC user with a nice-looking site, with lots of hardware and firmware documentation in French.
• Christophe Dupas A French CPC user and former demo coder, who has also written a text adventure and a utility to convert PC screens to CPC format. There's also an article on developing CPC programs with Windows programs.
• Fenyx Kell Lots of interesting stuff to see here - PC and CPC games (which are worth downloading), line drawings, harmonica music, and some mysterious magic. The site looks really nice, too.
• Laurent Massicot A French guy who creates all sorts of amazing hardware for the CPC, such as a device to let you use a Microsoft mouse.
• Ramlaid A French demo coder who has written several small PC utilities to make development of CPC software on a PC easier. There is also a gallery of demos that he has contributed to.
• Tom et Jerry A French CPC user, formerly a cracker, demo writer and member of the group GPA, who is still writing new software for the CPC. There's a full list of GPA's productions, all of which can be downloaded, and a history of GPA and several other documents are also on the site.

German CPC Users

• Amstrad CPC Imperium The Pentagon shows off his extensive collection of Amsoft and Schneider software.
• Bollaware Author of some great CPC games such as Bo!, Frestris, and more recently, Black Land and Fres Fighter II Turbo, as well as a few utilities and demos. All of them can be downloaded from this site.
• Kangaroo Musique The German musician's enormous collection of Soundtrakker tunes is all here, and you can even download them all in MP3 format, too.
• Jörn Mika Also known as Prodatron, this guy wrote lots of great demos, as well as the music utility Digitracker. You can download them, and hundreds of Digitracker modules, as well. He is currently developing a Windows-like system for the CPC called SymbOS, and it looks very impressive indeed!
• Odiesoft The author of the excellent game Megablasters and many demos, most of which were considered revolutionary at the time of their release. He's got a list of all of his games and demos, including screenshots and full technical details for every one of them.
• Markus Weis Another German CPC fan who has cleverly designed his site to give it a green screen CPC feel. There is a list of his favourite games for various computers, complete with screenshots, and you can also look at and download some of his work for the CPC.

Other CPC Users

• Julian Cassin An Australian CPC and Amiga user. He's got a great selection of photos that have been converted to the CPC. Most of them are intended to be viewed on a green screen, but they still look fantastic!
• Ian Dowse I think this guy is the brother of Malcolm Dowse (also known as Malfunction)? Although there's not much of interest on his site, he has a very impressively upgraded CPC and a lot of photos of it to look at - look in the 'Projects' section.
• Joseman Another tribute page containing a history and technical specifications of the CPC, and comments and downloads of a few games, demos and emulators. There's lots of stuff to read and look at, but of course, you'll need to be able to understand Spanish.
